Im angry.

I’m a little angry. Actually, I’ve got fire in my bones. Churches are dropping the ball early when it comes to being found online by people who are searching for a church.

Here’s the truth: the Holy Spirit is already at work in your city—with you and without you. And when the Spirit begins to draw people toward a relationship with their Creator, most often they turn to an online search engine first, before they even get to your website. Churches have known they need a website, but most people searching for a church dont even get there.

Your church’s Google listing, Yelp listing, Bing Places for Business, Apple Maps, and website SEO are some of the most crucial tools for people searching for God, for answers, and for a local church. And now, with the rise of AI, these platforms are also the primary sources used to guide people toward your church, and church website. If your information isn’t updated and accurate, you may miss the opportunity to serve someone who is actively searching.

Every church has free online “real estate” across Google, Yelp, Bing, Apple, and other platforms. How you steward it will often determine whether seekers find your church—or someplace else.

I’m a pastor and church planter, and nearly every week we meet someone new who found our church through Google or Yelp. For over a decade, I’ve also consulted with churches—and I’ve grown tired of seeing them unintentionally miss this opportunity. I want to help change that.

TWO WAYS:

1. Pastors & leaders: Follow @churchvisibility on Instagram. I’ll be sharing regular tips, strategies, and insights to help your church reach more people.

2. Audit & consulting: I’ve created a 63-point audit designed to help you fine-tune your Google listing, Yelp, Bing, Apple Business listing, and website SEO—so your church is easier to find and easier to trust. If you’d like a deeper dive into your church’s online presence, I’d be glad to help as a consultant. Find out more at www.churchvisibility.com and let’s talk!
