Tip 1: Your “Open Hours”

We recommend listing your “open hours” as 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on your church Google listing, Yelp, and other similar platforms.

Many churches use their service times as their open hours. That’s a mistake. Why? Because most people are searching for your church before a service not during your service, and when they select your church, they get notified that your church is closed. If someone searches at 8:45 AM and your service starts at 9:00 AM, they will see a notification that your church is closed. I’m other words, the HOURS section is not the best place to market your service times. Instead, we recommend using the “bio” section to clearly list your service times.

Some churches choose to list their “office hours” as their open hours. However, churches often host youth groups, small groups, and other events in the evenings. If someone sees that your church is “closed,” it can cause confusion or even discourage them from coming.

Trust us on this: your church is actively serving and engaging the community beyond just office hours. While you can list office hours on your website, your Google listing, Yelp, and similar platforms should reflect broader availability. We recommend setting your hours from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM—and making sure they are consistent across all platforms. Plus the Google Listing now allows you to add different types of hours. You can list “Worship Service” times there!
